The Dragonslayer's Scholar

Sariyah can carry a broadsword, a week's provisions, and her scholar's pack without breaking stride. Keeping Julian alive should be the easy part. Across the Cinder Wealds, she shields him from dragonfire while he deciphers the imperial seals that will lead them to the last dragon stronghold. When the hunt is over, they might finally have room for the tenderness neither dares to name. But the deeper they venture into the ruins, the less their mission makes sense. Ancient murals stir feelings Sariyah cannot explain, and her questions leave Julian more frightened than any beast ever has. She promised nothing would touch him while she drew breath. At the end of the road, what will that promise cost her?
